Anden Coogee recognised at Urban Taskforce Awards

Hosted by Urban Taskforce Australia, the Development Excellence Awards celebrate Australia’s most innovative and impactful property developments, recognising projects that deliver outstanding outcomes for communities, the environment and the industry.

Anden was recognised for its considered approach to blending heritage character with contemporary design, demonstrating how thoughtful architecture can enhance both a streetscape and the everyday experience of residents.

Located in the heart of Coogee, Anden is a boutique collection of 15 residences that celebrates its coastal setting while respecting the suburb’s rich architectural history. A defining feature of the project was the retention of the original art deco façade, carefully integrated with a contemporary ‘L’-shaped addition that preserves the character of the established streetscape.

Beyond its architectural response, Anden embraces biophilic design principles, creating a strong connection between residents and nature. The communal garden at the rear of the development features tiered lawns, living walls and cabbage tree palms, providing a tranquil green heart for the community.

The project also incorporates a range of sustainable initiatives, including photovoltaic panels, solar access, rainwater collection systems and an open stairwell designed to encourage natural ventilation and movement throughout the building.

Inside, the 15 residences reflect a sense of relaxed coastal luxury, with natural stone, timber finishes and carefully considered detailing creating homes that feel connected to their beachside surrounds. Resident amenities including a yoga room, gym and infrared sauna further enhance the everyday living experience.

The recognition follows the project’s strong market success, with all residences sold off-the-plan prior to completion in December 2022. Launched to market in March 2020, just one week before Sydney entered its first COVID-19 lockdown, Anden demonstrated the enduring appeal of well-designed homes in desirable locations.
