CBRE sent us an email saying there are some properties we might be interested in. They mentioned one in Neutral Bay and asked if we would like to have a look. We said yes, and Pienza just lifted us.

It’s rare to go from the first viewing to exchanging contracts in six days unless you’re convinced and have done your homework.

In our Manly home, it’s all about the courtyard, vista, and space. We want the same concept here. The finishes are great, and buying off-plan gives us the advantage of making changes if needed. Our lawyers say Richard Crookes is a very good builder, and Dorset & Jenny are excellent developers, so we shouldn’t have any problems. Dorset’s principal even said they’d like to live in Pienza.

We’ve reached an age where we need to downsize and live in a single-storey dwelling close to the hospital and public transport. We don’t want to just sit in a room reading books and watching videos. We want to be able to go outside and have amenities within a short distance. The proximity to the North Shore and Northern Beaches hospitals is also appealing.

We’ve come back almost every week for 10 weeks to check on the progress. We call it “the hole in the wall around the corner” and always stick our noses through, being curious. It’s exciting to follow the development, especially since we’ve never bought off-plan before, and the cranes are just in the ground.

Our daughter is very excited about it. She thinks it’s a great choice and is encouraging us to go for it.
