The opportunity
A strong growth area, Lane Cove is close to the CBD and major transport routes, but has so far retained a sense of suburban peace and quiet. Since part of the suburb was rezoned from low to high-density in 2010, developers and buyers have flocked to this precinct; a shift that shows no sign of slowing. On our elevated, north-facing site, we saw a chance to deliver a well-situated apartment that upped the ante in terms of quality and location.
Design approach
Together with PBD Architects and Growthbuilt, Central Element created Aston Apartments Lane Cove: a thoughtfully designed five-storey apartment, broken down into two separate buildings and a series of ‘steps’. Not only was this a practical approach given the site, this design gives the building a surprisingly understated and timeless appearance. Floor space has been optimised on every level, making Aston Apartments especially appealing to first home buyers and young families looking to get a foothold in the market.
