Located on the corner of Oxford Street and South Dowling Street, where Paddington meets Darlinghurst and Surry Hills, The Olympia stands at the intersection of some of Sydney’s most dynamic cultural precincts. Once a stage for performers and creatives as the former West Olympia Theatre and the legendary Grand Pacific Bue Room, the heritage-listed site is once again set to become a neighbourhood hub for locals and travellers alike.

Designed in collaboration with Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, Indyk Architects and Woods Bagot, the hotel’s design draws deeply from the site’s layered history – its architecture, cinematic legacy and spirit of storytelling. Bold details and restored heritage features sit alongside contemporary touches, with works by local creatives adding a distinctly Sydney character and the unmistakable 25hours flair.

Within the guest rooms, the narrative continues. Each space takes inspiration from the archetypal characters of cinema – the Dreamers and the Renegades – paying homage to the building’s theatrical past while inviting guests to inhabit a story of their own.

The hotel is also home to three new venues from fashionable London hospitality group, Studio Paskin, with former Kiln chef and Sydney local, Mitch Orr heading up the kitchen as Culinary Director.

Guests can feast on the vibrant flavours of Southern Europe, North Africa, and The Levant at The Palomar restaurant, sip cocktails at the sophisticated The Mulwray Bar, enjoy Ona coffee and Lune pastries at Jacob the Angel, or take in sweeping city views from Monica, the rooftop bar inspired by West Hollywood’s golden era. Each venue, created in collaboration with Studio Paskin, takes inspiration from the London venues yet with a Sydney twist to give it its own distinct rhythm.

For Central Element, the opening of The Olympia represents more than a project completion – it’s the realisation of a vision to transform a historic building into a living, breathing part of Sydney’s cultural fabric. A celebration of heritage, creativity and connection, 25hours Hotel The Olympia marks the start of a bold new chapter for Oxford Street – and for Sydney itself.
