Meet Tom and Linda Greene

Husband and wife Tom and Linda have been together for over 27 years and married for 22. They’ve recently sold their business to pursue some adventures, including a five-month European trip. After buying two apartments in MERA in Cammeray (which they amalgamated into one), they spent a lot of time working with Central Element to customise their purchase, so it will be perfect when they move in next year. Here they tell their story – and their journey with Central Element.

Why the move?

Tom: We lived at Walsh Bay for 15 years in a two-level penthouse. When we sold the business, we knew we were going to be living differently, so we decided to downsize in size and value, to release capital and go on an amazing trip.

Linda: We lived in Cammeray for 10 years on and off before that and we loved the area. Walsh Bay is fabulous, but there is a lot of development there now and the building is over 15 years old. So moving to MERA is lovely as it’s new and fresh and everything is at that luxury end.

How have you made your apartment your own?

Tom: It’s been a lot of work in planning for us, but it’s been worthwhile as we’ve ended up exactly with what we’ve wanted.

Linda: Central Element has been good because even though we’ve bought off the plan, we’re getting more of a bespoke apartment. We’ve been able to say this is where we’d like light switches and this is where we’d like electrical points. When we move in everything will be exactly as we want it and exactly as we imagined. It will all just fit. We’ve added extra wardrobes, moved the kitchen island bench to make it a walk around, and because we got in so early, we’ve moved the island bench and increased the window size. The bathroom is going to be really beautiful. It’s already lovely because of the heated towel rails and underfloor heating, but we’ve also added under bench lighting on a dual switch so we can use that as a night light. We’re turning one of the bedrooms into a study so we removed a wardrobe and added extra data points. We were even able to consolidate two apartments to get the size we wanted.

What are you looking forward to about living in MERA?

Linda: Feeling settled and saying wow, we made the right choice; it was a good decision. I’m looking forward to feeling that it all flows, it all works and looking forward to seeing the landscaping. It marks the beginning of the great next chapter.

How did you find the Central Element experience?

Linda: Our perception of Central Element started in the initial stages with our dealings with Ray White – Nicole and Tim were responsive to every request. They would take information from us and feed it back to CE and CE would then respond quickly. Things were resolved quickly, which was good. When we got to our wrap up meeting we had the architect, the designer, Central Element’s David Goldman, as well as Nicole and Tim from Ray White. We walked out of that meeting and thought – this has been a good decision. Because when we walk into our apartment we want to say, “This is great, this is what we were expecting”.
